Reunite lost iPhone with owner after 10 months

While we’ve all heard horror stories about someone who lost a phone, we don’t usually hear any happy endings. However, a British man has found himself reunited with his lost iPhone 10 months after it was dropped in a river, according to him. BBC.

In August 2021, Owen Davies dropped his iPhone while paddling on Wye River in Gloucestershire. Just a few weeks ago, while kayaking with the family, Miguel Pacheco came across his lost iPhone floating in the water.

Pacheco dried the device at home and posted photos on a public Facebook group to locate the owner of the missing iPhone. He wanted to return it to the owner because there might have been “emotional” things on the device. BBC It states that Pacheco dried the iPhone with an air compressor before placing it in a ventilated cabinet overnight.

“I know if I lose my phone, I have a lot of pictures of my kids, and I know I want to,” Pacheco said.

Much to his surprise, after it dried up all night, he put the phone on the charger and started charging. A lost iPhone displays a picture of a man and a woman on the lock screen. The date was August 13. The day the package was submerged in the river.

You don’t hear stories like this every day and it’s nice to see a good Samaritan looking to return a lost item. While people lose their iPhones all the time, they will likely never see them again. I’ve heard other stories of people who lost their phones while paddling; For folks who kayaking often, I recommend wearing an Apple Watch with cellular or purchasing an AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss before the trip. Losing a device can be costly and somewhat annoying that no one will definitely want to go through.
