The next wave of Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 smartphones will likely include the upcoming Xiaomi 12, and thanks to leaked renders, we’ve got an idea of what to expect from the flagship.
Despite the ‘Mi’ moniker being dropped, it looks like the Xiaomi 12 will continue the Mi 11 lineage. The latest batch of renders come from Steve Hemmerstoffer AKA Tweet embedIn association with Zoutons.
This Xiaomi 12 hints that we will see a smaller device this time with a proposed 6.2-inch curved screen with FHD + resolution. This is quite a step earlier than the Mi 11, which has a large 6.81-inch QHD+ display. Switching to a curved screen may be unpopular, and no details about the refresh rate have been shared. The renders show that we will likely see a center hole for the Xiaomi 12 camera.
On the back, there is space for a triple camera setup that looks eerily similar to the Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro, which was released over a year ago in late 2020. For those unfamiliar with this smartphone, there is a large circular lens in a domino layout with apertures Smaller for secondary and third lenses plus LED flash. We can even see a 50MP main camera setup, but no information about the other lenses has been shared.
The Xiaomi 12 devices can’t confirm the battery size, but OnLeaks reports that we’ll see an internal 5,000mAh cell, which, based on previous devices, will likely include fast charging via USB-C up to 100W. Other specs have been weak on the ground, but the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor is also expected here.
Release date information has not been shared, but the original report states that it is “expected to be released any minute” at a “reasonable” price.
