Huawei has started updating for the P20 Pro. For example, there is the Android security level of August. The smartphone is still not up to date – but almost.
Much more interesting, however, is a change in the camera app. Huawei switches off the artificial intelligence that has been previously activated on smartphones from the beginning. So if you install the update, the AI wants to shut down and you will not get it. That could end up in worse pictures.
Huawei does not completely eliminate the support of artificial intelligence in the camera app. It is only the default changed, so you should see for safety’s sake in the settings of the camera app, whether the support is still active after the update. Although you can manually turn on artificial intelligence support, the Huawei P20 Pro buyer’s preference may be a bit confusing. The Chinese company is promoting the feature so heavily that many actually assume that the feature is already activated at the factory. If this is not (any more) the case and the users are taking pictures whose results are not satisfactory, then this could be a problem for Huawei. Or what do you think?
