Chao Wang |

About Me

I am a researcher working on neural rendering, 3D reconstruction, and computational photography. I received my Ph.D. from the Max Planck Institute for Informatics, where I was advised by Prof. Karol Myszkowski and Prof. Hans-Peter Seidel. I also worked closely with Prof. Ana Serrano and Dr. Thomas Leimkühler. My Ph.D. thesis received an Honorable Mention for the Eurographics PhD Award. I received the M.S. degree in Computer Engineering from Peking University in 2020, advised by Prof. Ronggang Wang, and the B.S. degree in Information Engineering from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China in 2017. I was a Research Scientist Intern at Adobe’s Next Cam Lab from July 2024 to September 2024, working with Marc Levoy and Cecilia Zhang. Prior to that, I interned as an Algorithm Research Scientist at Tencent Robotics X Lab from December 2019 to June 2020, under the mentorship of Yonggen Ling. I was also an research assitant at the Spatial Intelligence Lab, University Of Calgary from May 2016 to September 2016, advised by Prof. Ruisheng Wang.

Computer Vision: image generation, computational photography
Computer Graphics: nerual rendering, material appearance perception.
