Having led UK + EU Regulatory Strategy at Amazon for the past 18 months, I'm excited to now have the opportunity to scale the function across EMEA. We'll be leveraging the mechanisms we have built and implemented in UK/EU to support new launches, products, and features in countries across the region. For anyone unfamiliar with regulatory strategy, it's a fascinating space to work in. We're at the intersection between policy and technology, supporting Amazon's go-to-market strategy by managing the external risk landscape. Here, we: Collaborate with local parter teams (Public Policy, Legal, PR, to name a few) to analyse the regulatory landscape ⬇️ Stress-test, iterate, and consolidate to produce quantified risk assessments ⬇️ Design risk mitigation strategies; recommending design or process changes where needed ⬇️ Continuously monitor the external landscape, tracking new and emerging developments ⬇️ Implement robust reporting mechanisms to enable fast, effective, top-down direction throughout the launch/expansion lifecycle If done successfully, regulatory strategy is a function that builds resilience and unlocks long-term, sustainable growth for new products/launches. Deliveroo's market share in Singapore declined from 24% in 2020 to just 7% in 2025, and it exited the market in 2026. Its parent company DoorDash is also winding down operations in three other countries: Qatar, Japan, and Uzbekistan. Food delivery is ultimately a scale game. Scale determines the ability and efficiency to sustain operations. Platforms either invest more to regain market share or exit the market. Some implications we at Momentum Works see: 👉 For users Some people expect prices to increase. We think the impact will be limited. Deliveroo's market share had already become relatively small, and consumers still have multiple options - delivery, pickup, or dine-in. If prices rise too much, demand will shift. 👉 For riders The impact should also be limited. In Singapore, riders have relatively flexible alternatives, from private hire driving to other gig work. 👉 For merchants This is where things get interesting. Many premium restaurants stayed with Deliveroo because of exclusivity arrangements and promotional support. Their channel strategy may now need to change. Some questions for brands: ❓ What would you do if delivery accounts for 30–40% of sales? ❓ What happens when platforms increasingly control the consumer discovery journey? ❓ How can brands differentiate beyond discounts and promotions? This happened today. A few months ago, AI video still felt off. This is Seedance 2.0... ByteDance's new video gen model The below clip? Fully AI-generated. If this dropped in a Netflix trailer, most people wouldn’t question it. And this is only the beginning. Video generation is moving at a speed that no one can comprehend. At Lucent we are building for the world where video is a native output of LLMs, at the price of current text generation. 99%+ of content created, across all modalities, will undoubtedly be AI in the next 5 years (and probably sooner). I've used "Ellie" to improve the efficiency of my inquiry operations. In the past, incoming e-mails were routed to the person in charge by the first responder, but now the following is achieved at the same time as the inquiry is made. Summarize the content of the email & suggest actions to be taken  ✅Flag the priority of the response  ✅Mention to the person in charge on Slack under specific conditions  ✅Remind the person in charge if the response is still delayed after the inquiry, etc. Even non-engineers can use "Ellie" to create advanced Zaps to improve operational efficiency!

ByteDance's Seedance 2.0 has a feature that caught my attention more than the viral deepfake videos everyone's been talking about. It's called Face-to-Voice — you upload a photo of someone's face and the AI generates their voice. No voice recordings, no audio samples. Just facial geometry mapped to acoustic properties. A media founder in China tested it with his own photo and said the result was "practically identical" to his real voice. What I find genuinely interesting is the underlying principle. Humans spent thousands of years trying to "read" faces — physiognomy claimed face shape reveals character, phrenology said skull shape reveals intelligence. Both were pseudoscience, thoroughly debunked. But the connection between face and voice turns out to be real physics. Your jaw structure, throat shape, and nasal cavity determine both how you look and how you sound. The correlation was always there. We just never looked for it in the right way. This is the part I keep thinking about as someone who works with AI systems daily. We tend to focus on what AI replaces or automates. But some of the most surprising results come from AI finding correlations in data that we had no reason to look for. Not because we lacked the data — because we lacked the hypothesis. Face-to-voice isn't a task anyone was trying to solve. It fell out of training on millions of video pairs where people speak on camera. ByteDance disabled the feature within days — the deepfake risk is obvious and real. I think that was the right call. But the technology works, and the correlation it found is not going away. It raises a question I don't have a clean answer to: how many other real, physical correlations are sitting in datasets right now, waiting for a model with enough parameters to notice what we never thought to ask? https://lnkd.in/dBiuPsZn #AI

Looking at Netflix’s latest results, it is clear the story is no longer about a single strong or weak quarter. It is about a deeper strategic transition. Netflix is no longer being valued as a high-growth tech company. It is being re-rated as a mature global media platform, where growth is driven by pricing, advertising, and capital allocation rather than rapid user expansion. The Warner Bros. Discovery Bros deal reflects this shift. It is not about short-term earnings, but about redefining Netflix’s identity for the next decade, from a streaming platform to an owner of global attention and intellectual property. BECOME AN INDIVIDUAL CONTRIBUTOR Over the past few months, I've seen several friends and ex-colleagues proactively move from leadership (manager or managers-of-managers) roles at non-AI companies to IC (individual contributo) roles at AI-native companies. While this might seem counter-intuitive and maybe even a career negative, I believe it's the right career move for leaders who want to move into AI. Every AI-native company is looking for leaders with AI native experience. If someone stays a mid-level manager in a non-AI role, they will not build the hands-on AI experience they need to become an effective AI leader. Even a couple years of IC work in an AI native environment will give them confidence and the optionality to either continue down the IC route or go back down the managerial path, now armed with real AI building experience and so a much better manager. Many AI companies are growing so fast that you might even get a "battlefield" promotion to people manager sooner than later, esp if you have prior management experience. Leaders / people managers in non-AI roles: If you're feeling stuck, please consider interviewing for and moving into an IC role at an AI company. It'll be lots of fun, plus you'll build durable skills you will use for the next several decades. PS: Do it fast. Don't wait too long. The half life of non-AI roles is shrinking fast.
