Thousands of emojis available on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac, and other devices are one of countless ways to add personality to every message.
Every year, the Unicode Consortium proposes a new set of emojis or changes to existing emojis to the Unicode Technical Committee. According to Emojipedia, a total of 164 new symbols were proposed in November. From a document released by the working group, nine symbols have emerged that reveal some of the upcoming innovations. In addition to the above mentioned, we also have: 1. “War Cloud” (This is usually seen in comics when two or more characters fight each other), a dancer (Supports different skin colors), trombone and a brakes.
Emojipedia recalled that Samsung, Facebook and WhatsApp currently support a single color variation of emoji character skin; Microsoft and Twitter (X) previously supported a subset of characters with different skin colors, but have now removed them.
If all goes according to plan, the Emoji 17.0 standard will be approved in September 2025.
