Samsung has announced that it is in the process of releasing a new high-performance SSD, the Samsung 990 Pro, the device is designed for gaming and also for creative applications.
The new Samsung 990 Pro comes with back speeds of up to 7450MB/s and write speeds of up to 6900MB/s.
Featuring Samsung’s latest V-NAND and a new proprietary controller, the 990 PRO Series delivers nearly the fastest PCIe 4.0 interface currently available.[1]. The SSD offers sequential read and write speeds of up to 7450 MB/s (MB/s) and 6900 MB/s, respectively. Random read and write speeds up to 1400K and 1550K IOPS[2], Straight. With up to a 55% improvement in random performance compared to the 980 PRO, the 990 PRO is especially suitable for heavy gaming, creative and productive tasks.
High-performance NVMe SSDs are also essential in reaping the full benefits of the latest gaming consoles and gaming technologies. Powered by NVMe, the 990 PRO delivers faster load times for PCs and consoles for a better gaming experience. When tested with Forspoken[3]an upcoming role-playing game from Luminous Productions that supports the latest game loading technology, the map load time was about one second, compared to four seconds for a SATA SSD and 28 seconds for a hard disk drive (HDD).
