Samsung has made huge strides over the past few years with its update cadence across the entire range of devices. With that in mind, here’s every smartphone and tablet Samsung updated with the August 2022 security patch.
Samsung August 2022 Security Update – What’s New
Almost all security updates include a number of important security fixes, most of them include general Android tweaks, but there are some that are specific to Samsung devices. The Korean company has yet to release the full details of the August patch, so at this point, we’re not entirely sure what has been resolved. However, we will learn more once we share the Android Security Bulletin.
The patch notes from the OTA file note that several Galaxy apps for select devices have been updated with the Samsung Health, Samsung Members, and Smart Switch note.
Devices with the August 2022 Samsung Security Update
As noted, Samsung has really upped its game in terms of updates in recent years. In fact, Samsung pushed the August 2022 security update to devices as early as July 28. This will undoubtedly expand to a wide range of phones over the coming days and weeks as more OTA updates arrive on a large number of Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets worldwide.
This list will include a note on where the update first appeared and if it’s also available in the US. As usual, the latest additions will be highlighted in bold.
Galaxy S series


As the flag-bearer of Samsung’s smartphone efforts, it should come as no surprise that the Galaxy S series is at the forefront of the update schedule every month. The latest Galaxy S series devices are often among the first devices on Android to get the latest security patch.
This was proven true with the August 2022 security update, with the Samsung Galaxy S22 series seeing the patch in select regions as of July 28. This patch weighed around 420MB and includes some tweaks to the PenUP app along with some core Samsung apps including the Galaxy wearable app. What’s even more impressive is that the Galaxy S21 and S20 series were updated just hours later in European markets as well.

Galaxy Flip series

The Galaxy Flip series is arguably third in Samsung’s smartphone rankings behind the Fold and S lines. We expect to learn more about 4G in the coming weeks, but until then, those who have the original Samsung Galaxy Flip 5G get an update with the August security patch. 2022. Devices in Switzerland are among the first to receive an OTA update, with more expected over the coming days.

How to check for the latest OTA on your Galaxy device
If your device has already been updated, but the patch did not reach you personally, you can try to update manually. Simply open the Settings app, tap Software Update, and choose Download and Install.
