YouTube Music starts rolling out summer synopsis

Following the release of the inaugural season recap in June, YouTube Music today begins rolling out its summer edition.

Update 8/23: After YouTube Music started rolling out over the weekend, it made Summer Recap official:

Starting today, take a look at the songs that defined your summer with Summer Recap, the newest piece of our personalized experience that brings you a summary of your top artists, songs, albums, and playlists from the past season.

It has not been widely disseminated in the accounts we checked yet. Meanwhile, Google today released a pair of its top ten YouTube charts:

Methodology: The songs are ranked by global views from May 30, 2022 to August 17, 2022. The totals include all official versions of the song, including the official music video, user-generated content that uses the official song, and lyrics videos.

Original 8/21: It comes because there is an extra month of summer (in the Northern Hemisphere), which ends on Thursday, September 22nd. YouTube Music started teasing the arrival of Summer Recaps earlier this week as “coming soon” in a YouTube Premium email, and it’s now appearing to the first members.

As before, you may initially encounter it as a “Summer Recap is here” card in the homepage feed for the “best summer recap music and stats.” However, early users only get to have a “Your Recap” playlist, which included 50 songs last time. Yellow is the dominant color in the art cover compared to the violet color of spring.

The set of stats cards that can be easily shared and saved are not yet visible. You’ll end up with top five songs, artists, playlists, albums, and genres (only three).

Another way to check to your summer feed by clicking on your profile avatar in the top-right corner and then “Your Summary” under “History”. Spring Recap is still offered to the vast majority of people, who have the following eligibility requirements:

To view the 2022 Season Summary, you will need at least 2 hours of listening time for music on YouTube and/or YouTube Music from March 1, 2022 to May 20, 2022.

Starting with the first release, YouTube Music could make the summer recap widely available by mid-September.
