Microsoft will allow you to hide the floating Copilot button in Office apps

Next week, Microsoft will release updates to Office applications that will allow users to disable the floating Copilot button. In recent weeks, it has appeared in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and is located in the lower-right corner of open documents and spreadsheets. This is particularly annoying for Excel users, as the button simply covers the desired table cells.

Yusuf Mehdi to Leave Microsoft After 35 Years

Yusuf Mehdi, executive vice president and chief marketing officer for consumer products at Microsoft, will leave the company next year after a 35 year tenure, he said in an internal memo reviewed by The Verge. Mehdi will continue to oversee marketing for Windows, the consumer version of Copilot, and Microsoft 365 until his departure.

Mozilla unveiled a redesigned Firefox interface developed under Project Nova, featuring rounded tab buttons and an updated address bar. The overhaul groups the top area into distinct blocks for the tab strip, navigation toolbar, side panel, web content, and the new tab page, each given its own gradient tinted color.

Microsoft confirmed EFI free space issue with installing May updates for Windows 11 24H2 / 25H2

Microsoft has confirmed that some devices running Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 25H2 may experience an issue installing cumulative update KB5089549, released May 12, 2026. The failure reportedly occurs approximately 35% of the way through the update, during the reboot to apply the changes. The error code is 0x800f0922.

GitHub reports unauthorized access to 3800 internal repositories via a Malicious Visual Studio Code Extension

GitHub warned of unauthorized access to about 3,800 internal repositories after a developer’s workstation became compromised, the company said. The breach followed installation of a VS Code extension that included malicious code, GitHub added. The company said user data stored outside its internal repositories appears unaffected. GitHub promised a full account of the incident once its investigation finishes.
