Adam Hughes shared thisAdam Hughes shared thisThe opportunities to study abroad were part of the reason I found myself moving to Greencastle IN and enrolling at DePauw University. After exceptional experiences studying abroad at the University of Limerick and my life-changing Winter Term Service Trip to Ecuador with Timmy Global Health, I've completed my MPH and working as a public health professional. I encourage everyone who is thinking about studying abroad to go for it. DePauw's Winter term trips provide opportunities for those who don't think they can commit to an entire semester. I've had the privilege to meet so many people from all over the world that I still keep in touch with to this day, and traveling through DePauw ultimately let me into my career. I came back more confident in myself and what I wanted to do with my life. You may miss out on DePauw events here and there, but the experiences you'll gain from traveling will be one of your best memories.

Founded in 1986 through one of a great many generous gifts Tim and Sharon made to DePauw, the series presented 120 programs over 40 years. I had the great privilege of directing it for the past 25. This video was played before the program began, and I am grateful to Lori S. White and everyone at my alma mater for the wonderful things they do (the Communications team did a superb job on this piece). What a special night, and a very remarkable 40 years.

The “SaaSpocalypse” or the Renaissance of India’s GCCs? The recent launch of Anthropic’s Claude Cowork and its 11 automation plugins has sent a tremor through the industry. Some are calling it a "generational challenge". I call it the end of the "Back Office" era. For years, the value proposition of a GCC in India was built on scale and process excellence. But with AI agents now capable of reviewing contracts, triaging support tickets and analyzing financial KPIs with native predictability, the "human-as-a-bridge" model is crumbling. What does this mean for our GCC ecosystem? 1. For Existing GCCs: The Shift from Execution to Governance The "billable hour" mindset is dead. We are moving from a world where we manage people doing tasks to one where we manage agents delivering outcomes. Our teams must evolve into Agent Orchestrators—human supervisors who govern, audit, and refine the outputs of tools like Claude, Deepseek, Codex etc. 2. For New GCCs: The “AI-Native” Blueprint If you are setting up a GCC in 2026, do not hire for 2020. New centers should be "AI-Native" from Day 1. Instead of building massive army of developers, AI architects and cross functional reasoning specialists are the way to go for. 3. The Middle-Management Squeeze The biggest impact isn't just at the entry level; it’s the middle management layer that traditionally focused on task tracking. That role is being automated. The new "Manager" would need to be a Workflow Architect, designing the logic that AI plugins follow. The Bottom Line India's strength has always been its ability to reinvent itself. We transitioned from voice to BPO, then to IT services, and then to high-end engineering. The Claude Cowork era isn't about replacing Indian talent; it’s about liberating it from the "menial" so we can focus on the "strategic." The centers that thrive will be those that treat AI not as a tool to cut costs, but as a colleague to increase impact. Is your GCC ready to lead the agents, or are you still managing the tasks? Are you as a GCC leader talking about this in your board meetings? Do Comment with what you feel about this shift which is now real... #GCC #GenAI #ClaudeCowork #IndiaTech #DigitalTransformation #Leadership #FutureOfWork

Building Ohio's Future Educator Pipeline: One Student at at Time Ohio, like much of the nation, is facing a critical shortage of teachers—especially at the secondary level. Addressing this challenge requires more than recruitment campaigns; it calls for intentional, early investments that help students see themselves as future educators. Project EDUCATE, a partnership between Bowling Green State University & Whitmer High School offers a powerful example of what this approach can look like in practice. https://lnkd.in/g53Dt7SU

If you're going to use AI, here's the minimum quality control you should do: use AI to vet the AI's output. Specifically, ask (1) What factual errors are present in this text? Provide literature citations to support that belief. (2) What references don't exist? (3) What citations contradict or misrepresent the cited source?

FWIW re: hyphens, en and em dashes and their appearance in human and AI writing: here's the entry from the punctuation section of the current Associated Press style guide. Yes, humans use em or en dashes in their writing. Yes, they can be a telltale artifact of AI "writing." Punctuation is akin to musical notation to guide note duration and pauses. In design, punctuation is the analogue to white space, leading (the vertical space between lines of type) and kerning (spacing between letter pairs). Think of it this way: One can separate a series of thoughts and ideas without commas. One might also indicate a series of concepts, notions or details using a comma series (with or without the serial, or Oxford, comma). In the end – and style aside, preference often dictates usage – punctuation directs the reader to pause at the writer and/or editor's desire. A sentence is a sentence. A sentence joined with a quick related detail might incorporate a semicolon, which is a pause of duration somewhere between the period and comma; one learns these phrasings with time. But in the end, edit for logic and clarity. When in doubt, recast a troublesome sentence. Run your content through a readability app to gauge the level of audience with whom it aligns. Or ... wait for community standards to evolve into the next acceptable practice. #dash #hyphen #punctuation #emdash #endash #comma #semicolon #grammarnerd #stylenerd

I believe that the responsibility to disclose AI use is greater depending on how much it is used compared to the human contribution. Failing to disclose it in certain circumstances, such as when performing a professional or artistic service like creating a book cover, could even be fraudulent and cause harm. What about you? Are you using AI for any of your work? Have you disclosed your use of AI, if you use it? And if you haven’t seen my article discussing some different categories of usage (creative and arts-focused), check it out here: https://lnkd.in/gjx48eNx #AI #ArtificialIntelligence #Technology #Ethics

Teachers can put holds on 20-30 books at a time, that students will then use as part of their current learning unit. The results? The district saw a 10.2% increase in proficiency in its 2024-2025 IREAD scores. Third-grade alone saw proficiency rates soar nearly 70%. This is what happens when school districts and public libraries partner to enter into an agreement with a consortium and share resources. #consortium #access #publiclibraries #k12 #contentstandards #corecurriculim #readingproficiency
